Summary of Defect:

Section 2.1.5.4.5.2 covers the case where a D-START confirmation is received to be aborted for the following two cases:  1) Result is "rejected (transient)" or 2) Reject source is "DS provider".  In addition to invoking the CM-provider-abort indication, the timers should be reset (t_Update or t_Contact or t_Forward).

Proposed SARPs amendment: 

1/ Add in section 2.1.5.4.5.2 a new item a)  [note that this section has changed due to PDR 98050002] from:

2.1.5.4.5.2 If the CM-ASE receives a D-START confirmation with the D-START <Result> parameter having the abstract value of "rejected (transient)" or if the D-START <Reject Source> parameter has the abstract value of "DS provider", the CM-ASE shall:
a) if the CM-user is an active user, invoke CM-provider-abort service indication with the abstract value "communication-service-error" APDU as the CM-provider-abort Reason parameter value.

To:

2.1.5.4.5.2 If the CM-ASE receives a D-START confirmation with the D-START <Result> parameter having the abstract value of "rejected (transient)" or if the D-START <Reject Source> parameter has the abstract value of "DS provider", the CM-ASE shall:
a) stop all timers, and
b) if the CM-user is an active user, invoke CM-provider-abort service indication with the abstract value "communication-service-error" APDU as the CM-provider-abort Reason parameter value.

2/ In Table 2.1.5-2,

Impact on interoperability: 

None. On receipt of a negative D-START, the ASE instance is stopped anyway, stopping implicitly the running timers. This PDR is needed for completeness.
