Title: FIS - ASN.1 FISProtocolErrorDiag Missing 3 Abort Reasons PDR Reference: 98120012 Originator Reference: acifis07 SARPs Document Reference: FIS SARPs, Section 2.4.4.2.1 Status: REJECTED PDR Revision Date: 14/12/98 (SUBMITTED -> REJECTED) PDR Submission Date: 03/12/98 Submitting State/Organization: AIRSYS ATM (ACI) Submitting Author Name: Ilkiewicz, M / Stokes, S Submitting Author E-mail Address: michel.ilkiewicz@cdv.vly.sextant. thomson-csf.com, Shawn.Stokes@atnsi.com Submitting Author Supplemental Contact Information: SARPs Date: IV2.2, IV2.3 (Doc 9705 Ed1) SARPs Language: English Summary of Defect: The FIS SARPs, Section 2.4.4.2.1 FISProtocolErrorDiag ASN.1 Description needs to include the following 3 Abort Reasons: a) Communication System Failure - See SARPs requirement section 2.4.5.3.9.4 (item b) b) Cannot Establish Contact With The Peer - See SARPs requirement section 2.4.5.3.12.8.1 (item a) c) Contact Refused By The Peer - See SARPs requirement section 2.4.5.3.12.9.1 (item a) The indicated SARPs requirements relate to sending FIS Provider Abort Indications to the user with the associated Abort reason. Per section 2.4.3.9.2.1, the Reason parameter of the FIS Provider Abort "... shall conform to the ASN.1 abstract syntax FISProtocolErrorDiag." However, the ASN.1 abstract syntax for FISProtocolErrorDiag in section 2.4.4.2.1 does not include the FIS provider Abort Reasons listed above, so it should be modified to add these reasons. Assigned SME: Sub-Volume II SME Proposed SARPs amendment: Section 2.4.4.2.2.1 should be modified from: FISProtocolErrorDiag ::== ENUMERATED { timerExpiration (0), protocolError (1), sequenceError (2), decodingError (3), unrecoverableInternalError (4), invalidContractNumber (5), dialogueEndNotSupported (6), undefined (7), invalidQosParameter (8), ... } To: FISProtocolErrorDiag ::== ENUMERATED { timerExpiration (0), protocolError (1), sequenceError (2), decodingError (3), unrecoverableInternalError (4), invalidContractNumber (5), dialogueEndNotSupported (6), undefined (7), invalidQosParameter (8), communicationSystemFailure (9), cannotEstablishContactWithThePeer, (10), contactRefusedByThePeer (11), ... } SME Recommendation to CCB: REJECTED The problem raised in this PDR was already raised in PDR 98040002. Note that the change - agreed by the CCB - was not to change the ASN.1 but the description of the Reason parameter in section 2.4.3.9.2.1. The exception occurs on reception of a D-P-ABORT indication (a) or a negative D-START confirmation (b & c) and it is therefore impossible for the ASE to send an Abort APDU to the peer.
